EM Electronics Nanovolt Amplifier Power Supply

EM Electronics Model A10

One of the most popular and highest-performing solutions for measuring superconductor characteristics down to a sub-nanovolt noise floor is the EM Electronics series of low-level DC voltage amplifiers such as their Model A10.

The only drawback to these extraordinarily versatile amplifiers is that, to preserve their incredibly high specification in more demanding applications, no straightforward power supply solution is offered by EM Electronics and the user is left to come up with their own (bipolar) supply. Attempts to use commonly-available benchtop power supplies, as well as being unwieldy, bulky and inconvenient, typically compromise performance and the user is often left with an unsatisfactory solution involving a pair of 9 V batteries that are always somehow dead when it comes time to use the equipment.

Our custom-designed power supply module accepts any regular unipolar dc input such as from a cheap and ubiquitous “wall wart” adapter and generates an ultrahigh stability isolated bipolar supply that typically outperforms batteries.

For added convenience, the module also incorporates the required external gain setting resistor and offers a switchable gain of ×1,000 and ×10,000.

The module conveniently mounts directly to the screw terminals of the Model A10.
